Ireland’s gambling regulatory landscape was reformed by the Gambling Regulation Act 2024, which established the Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland (GRAI) as the new independent regulator. The GRAI is responsible for licensing all commercial gambling activities in Ireland, both online and retail.
The GRAI is building its supervisory framework. Licence holders will be subject to ongoing compliance monitoring, mandatory responsible gambling measures, and reporting obligations. The first licences under the new regime are expected to be issued in the latter part of 2026.
